Susan Wilkie, Ph.D., LPC, LMFT, NCC, NCSC is currently the
Assistant Director of Counseling Services at the University of
New Orleans, an approved state supervisor of counselor training,
and both a licensed professional counselor (LPC) and licensed
marriage and family therapist (LMFT) in private clinical
practice. Additionally, Dr. Wilkie is an adjunct professor for
graduate counseling coursework at local universities since 1994.
Dr. Wilkie graduated from the University of Maryland with an
undergraduate degree in education, a master’s degree in
Administration & Supervision from the University of Alabama, and
a second master’s degree in Counselor Education and doctoral
degree in Human Services Counseling, both conferred by the
University of New Orleans.
An experienced couple and family counselor, Dr. Wilkie
specializes in relationship therapy, parenting, adult
development & aging, stress management, and counselor training &
supervision. Her more recent research interests focus on
wellness, especially body image, healthy self-esteem, and stress
management. Also a trained family mediator since 1992, Dr.
Wilkie has served on faculty for numerous marriage/divorce
mediation training seminars sponsored each by the Loyola
University School of Law in New Orleans and the Family Mediation
Council of Louisiana.
Dr. Wilkie holds certification in the National Board for
Certified Counselors as both a national certified counselor and
certified school counselor. She is also a professional member of
the American Counseling Association (ACA), Louisiana Counseling
Association (LCA), Louisiana Association for Counselor Educators
and Supervisors (LACES), the Louisiana Association for Marriage
and Family Therapy (LAMFT),
and a clinical member of the American Association for Marriage
and Family Therapy
(AAMFT).
